Significantly they dropped the Newcastle-Tamworth and Wagga Wagga-Wodonga services after patronage failed to materialise, although the actual timetable was not very attractive. An option has also been added to select a "from time" in the Journey Planner for more intensive routes and also pagination has been added to fix a bug where most browsers would time out when getting big data sets e.g. Melbourne-Geelong.

GetAbout Australia is also negotiating a collaboration with "Train Times" (the work of the late Victor Isaacs) with a view to both protecting that historical archive and presenting significant transport routes with a broadsheet timetable in PDF format. This will be a "work in progress" for some months to come.

6th Mar 2018 - General Notice
From today some minor improvements have been made to GetAbout Australia. These include a new symbol indicating if connections are advertised by the operator (although not necessarily guaranteed) as distinct from GetAbout Australia suggestions. These changes will appear as timetables are updated. To assist with readability, services that have two types of services included in the one itinerary (such as local train to intercity coach between Melbourne and Lancefield) will now have the transfer location highlighted in the summary table. Searches for services between two localities considered to be in the same urban area will have additional comments added as these are not often accurate outcomes, GetAbout Australia shows predominantly regional routes rather than urban/suburban routes. Additional information for major city airports has been added. Finally a problem with calculating total travel times across different time zones has been corrected (all times shown are local).
14th Aug 2017 - V/Line
From 27 Aug 2017 V/Line will introduce a new timetable. Some alterations have been made in GetAbout Australia to reflect the new timetable, but with final edits not available until late September. Please check their website for altered arrangements.

1st Jan 2017 - General Notice
From today a new version of GetAbout Australia has been released - to be more user friendly on mobile devices. The look on web sites has had a minor revamp but the real changes occur when using your mobile device such as a phone or pad. The changes have been tested on a limited range of devices so if you experience any glaring errors please let us know through the Facebook forum. One known problem that shows up on certain Apple devices when using browsers such as Safari or Chrome prevents large data sets from rendering. For example, if you search for Melbourne location results or use the Journey Planner for searching Melbourne to Geelong you will see the browser wanting to reload the page. A fix is on its way but if you wish to use a workaround in the meantime we recommend the use of a browser called Puffin. This free application happily renders those results. You can also add the GetAbout Australia shorcut to your device (e.g. by using "Add to Home Screen" on Apple devices). Feedback is welcome, meantime enjoy the new experience!

Approximately 85 daily services have been affected. Check with V/Line before travelling for the latest and temporary timetables. A new timetable that was expected to come into effect in late January 2016 has been delayed indefinitely.
3rd Apr 2016 - Greyhound Australia
From late 2015 Greyhound Australia have shortened some routes requiring a change of coach at an intermediate point to complete longer journeys. The most significant changes have been made to Sydney - Melbourne services, now requiring a change in Canberra; and Brisbane - Cairns requiring some changes in Townsville. There has been a general reduction in service frequency between Cairns and Brisbane and in the Sunshine Coast area. The direct Toowoomba - Gold Coast and Rockhampton - Biloela services have ceased. Since January 2016 the Brisbane - Sydney via Tamworth service has reverted to a daylight service with the Sydney - Brisbane service remaining an overnight trip. From 29 February 2016 Greyhound also ceased operating the remnant Adelaide - Mildura service due to low passenger numbers. There are now no longer any direct Adelaide - Mildura coach services.

7th Sep 2015 - Journey Beyond
After some initial fears, the iconic "Overland" rail service between Adelaide and Melbourne will continue to operate after the end of 2015. The service relies on partial funding from the South Australian and Victorian state governments. Great Southern have updated timetables for their "Indian Pacific" and "The Ghan" trains and this reflects their luxury train ride orientation in the market.

From 21 Jun 2015, V/Line services between Melbourne and Geelong have switched to operating along the new Regional Rail Link via Wyndham Vale in lieu of the previous route via Werribee. There has been a total recast of Geelong services and these changes are now reflected in GetAbout Australia. From this date the two new stations at Tarneit and Wyndham Vale in Melbourne's south west have been added to the V/Line network. Passengers from Geelong to Werribee are now advised to change to a connecting bus service at Wyndham Vale, details are available on the PTV website.
15th May 2015 - Queensland Rail Travel
With effect from early 2015, Queensland Rail made alterations to their Westlander, Inlander and Spirit of the Outback train service offerings, mostly affecting accommodation and food services. From 15 Mar 2015 one set of the electric tilt trains operating between Brisbane and Rockhampton has been removed from service for overhaul and refurbishment and has been temporarily replaced by a slower train. Connecting RailBus services have been altered to reflect the different train timings.
6th Apr 2015 - Greyhound Australia
With effect from 5 Apr 2015, Greyhound Australia have made minor changes to routes and timings, usually associated with daylight saving. A significant change is the cessation of through services between Sydney and Melbourne, with connecting replacement services provided via Canberra. Greyhound have also introduced dedicated Wagga Wagga to Canberra services. They also appear to have ceased their code sharing arrangements with Firefly Coaches, which means they have effectively ceased to provide service between Adelaide and Melbourne.
21st Mar 2015 - Transwa
Transwa have made a number of minor changes to services over the previous months. The "AvonLink" service has been completely recast with a number of additional services on weekdays and from later in March 2015 day returns from Perth to Northam at weekends. The "MerredinLink" train service has been cut from three per week to only weekly but "Prospector" services have been augmented. With this timetable comes the return of additional stops at Hines Hill and Koolyanobbing. Coach services to Geraldton have been revised and augmented with additional coastal services. An extra coach service now runs between Albany and Ravensthorpe and services for Collie have been altered.
19th Mar 2015 - Transwa
From 1 Dec 2014 Transwa reorganised their "AvonLink" and "MerredinLink" train services. "AvonLink" services were increased from one service in each direction per day to as many as three on certain weekdays. The thrice weekly "MerredinLink" was reduced to weekly operation on Wednesday only. It was originally announced that "AvonLink" would be discontinued and replaced by more frequent bus services, but that decision was reversed and the service enhanced. On 25 Apr 2015 the Saturday only service will be reversed from being a day return from Northam, to become a day return from Perth.
14th Jan 2015 - TbX Transborder Express
Transborder Express quietly dropped their Surfborder services between Canberra and Ulladulla. Only Transborder services between Canberra and Yass are shown in GetAbout Australia.

30th Dec 2014 - NSW TrainLink
From 26 Dec 2014 NSW TrainLink ceased to operate train services past Broadmeadow toward Newcastle. Passengers wishing to travel to the centre of Newcastle are now required to transfer to a bus connection, with journey time increasing an average of 20 minutes. These changes apply to trains from both the Sydney and Maitland direction. From 5 Jan 2015 the line should be reinstated as far as Hamilton on the Newcastle stub. New timetables effective 5 Jan show the bus connections (Route 110) and passengers must allow 20 minutes transit and connection time from central Newcastle to Hamilton (previously about 6 minutes). This improvement in public transport is designed to allow the reconstruction of the future terminus of Wickham and a light rail connection to central Newcastle to be opened sometime in 2016 or later. Passengers who find this arrangement inconvenient should make their views known to the NSW Minister for Transport, Gladys Berejiklian.
30th Dec 2014 - Greyhound Australia

There are some modifications to on-board facilities on the Spirit of the Outback train service. From mid-December the full Spirit of Queensland train service between Brisbane and Cairns comes into effect. From the end of December the Sunlander will no longer operate between Brisbane and Cairns (having been replaced by the Spirit of Queensland services).
27th Aug 2014 - General Notice
On Sunday 20 Jul 2014 a new light rail service commenced operation on the Gold Coast of Queensland, serving a 13km route from Southport to Broadbeach. Travellers can now catch Queensland Rail city services to Gold Coast stations and transfer to buses then onto the GoldLinQ services to complete their journey. In the future it is hoped the line will be extended to one of the hinterland railway stations to remove the need to change twice.
26th Aug 2014 - NSW TrainLink
On 3 Jul 2014, the NSW Minister for Transport (Gladys Berejiklian) announced that rail services between the Newcastle suburb of Wickham and the Newcastle CBD station would be truncated to Wickham from 26 Dec 2014. Pending the removal of the railway track into the CBD and the construction of a new interchange at Wickham the railway service will actually be truncated to Broadmeadow or Hamilton pending works being completed at the end of 2016. Broadmeadow is 5km from the city and travellers are expected to undertake a bus ride to complete their journeys. No details are available about the replacement bus service. Sometime in the future (after the interchange is completed) the railway is supposed to be replaced by a light rail link, but no announcement of plans to complete this work has yet been made. This ill thought out proposal will severely inconvenience commuters and visitors to the city centre leaving the second largest city in NSW without a rail service. Whether the closure actually takes place may hinge on the outcome of investigations by the NSW Independent Commission Against Corruption, which has already seen the departure of two state government politicians from the Newcastle area, as well as the former Lord Mayor of Newcastle.
26th Aug 2014 - Buses R Us
With effect from 7 Jun 2014, Buses-R-Us have suspended their Broken Hill-Mildura and return twice weekly coach service, probably due to falling demand. There are no longer any services operating between these two locations.

The Mon-Fri evening Melbourne-Warrnambool service has been retimed some 16 minutes later and the preceding local service now provides better connections for onward journeys from Geelong.

Customers wishing to book a seat on the special coaches should contact NSW TrainLink on 132 232 before making onward airline bookings. The replacement services include two daily return coaches between Moree, Narrabri and Tamworth to connect customers with flights in and out of Tamworth; two extra coaches between Cobar and Dubbo, complementing existing NSW TrainLink services; and, for Mudgee, customers are encouraged to catch NSW TrainLink services from Mudgee to Lithgow and Sydney.

It is notable that the southbound service will take one hour longer than the current service. From 28 Oct the train also introduces the use of "RailBed" seats that convert to a lie-flat bed for overnight use, similar in styling to a long haul flight business class pod. Also from 2 Sep the Rockhampton and Bundaberg Tilt Trains had their frequency reduced or days altered.

Transwa have announced a number of changes to services from 30 Dec 2013. On that date some six coach services and two train services will cease to operate.
