17th Apr 2022 - General Notice
GetAbout Australia has been updated with further enhancements made to the use of PDF timetable files. They are still in development though and some data will be missing from some timetable layouts. Some journey planner tweaks and bug fixes have been implemented with improvement to the display of public holiday data.
17th Apr 2022 - NSW TrainLink
GetAbout Australia has added the full rail timetables for intercity/interurban/regional NSW TrainLink services between Sydney and Newcastle & Hunter Valley, Central Coast, Blue Mountains, Southern Highlands, Illawarra and South Coast routes. In addition to finding these trips in the Journey Planner these routes are now also available as PDF timetables.
12th Dec 2021 - V/Line
From 12 Dec 2021 a new station at Goornong, north of Bendigo on the Echuca line, was brought into use. All V/Line trains to and from Echuca now serve this station, in addition to the existing bus services that continue to stop on the Midland Highway adjacent to the Newsagency.
23rd Aug 2021 - General Notice
GetAbout Australia introduces a new feature, the provision of regional timetables in PDF "sheet" form. This is a work in progress and new timetables will be introduced progressively. All sheets are A4 size but may appear as portrait or landscape. Simply follow the new link off the "Searches" page.
23rd Mar 2020 - General Notice
Due to travel restrictions in place in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, including border closures, many services have been cancelled or amended. For up to date information always check with the operator before travelling.
19th Feb 2020 - V/Line
Late in 2019 Cobblebank station on the Ballarat line opened for business and additional services have been added to the Shepparton and Warrnambool lines.
19th Feb 2020 - NSW TrainLink
NSW TrainLink have quietly dropped a few of their trial coach services but are frequently adding new ones. Significantly they dropped the Newcastle-Tamworth and Wagga Wagga-Wodonga services after patronage failed to materialise, although the actual timetable was not very attractive. In September 2019 they added an additional daily "Bathurst Bullet" train (with an odd twist on Wednesdays) and an additional weekly Sydney-Griffith train.
19th Feb 2020 - Greyhound Australia
Greyhound Australia have further rationalised their network, quietly dropping their Darwin-Jabiru service in the last year.
19th Feb 2020 - General Notice
GetAbout Australia has had further enhancements added - specifically how transfers are displayed and over time this will allow up to 6 journey segments involving 5 transfers to be shown. An option has also been added to select a "from time" in the Journey Planner for more intensive routes and also pagination has been added to fix a bug where most browsers would time out when getting big data sets e.g. Melbourne-Geelong.
GetAbout Australia is also negotiating a collaboration with "Train Times" (the work of the late Victor Isaacs) with a view to both protecting that historical archive and presenting significant transport routes with a broadsheet timetable in PDF format. This will be a "work in progress" for some months to come.
